The Record Company booty-shakes through its bluesy rock | LouFest

Chris Vos, the lead singer and guitarist of Los Angeles-based the Record Company, told the midafternoon LouFest crowd the band had been up till 3 a.m. the night before only to get up at 5 to fly here. It wasn’t evident from the performance to that point, with Vos, bassist Alex Stiff and drummer Mark Carloza powering through bluesy, booty-shaking, no-b.s. rock.

Highlights included the groovy “Baby I’m Broken” and “Rita Mae Young,” on which Vos played slide guitar. The audience was game, boogying and call-and-response’ing with Vos on “Don’t Let Me Get Lonely.”

The band didn’t let up after revealing its late night and early morning, closing out the set with its breakthrough single “Off the Ground,” an extended acoustic-guitar and harmonica freakout and a cover of the Beastie Boys’ classic “Sabotage.”
