Springsteen surprises fans at N.J. concert, jams with Jackson Browne and Little Steven (VIDEO)

HOLMDEL — Any Jersey rock music fan worth his or her salt knew this was a possibility Thursday night.

Bruce Springsteen is longtime friends with Jackson Browne, the revered singer-songwriter and headliner for Laid Back Fest at PNC Bank Arts Center Thursday — plus Bruce’s E Street consigliere Steven Van Zandt was opening.

So of course The Boss walked out to a swell of cheers, for a pseudo-surprise jam with Browne and Van Zandt, first with Little Steven for “It’s Been A Long Time” and the Boss classic “10th Avenue Freeze-Out,” and later with Browne for his staple “Take It Easy.”

Springsteen was also Paul McCartney’s surprise guest last Saturday, rocking with the Beatle to “I Saw Her Standing There.”

Springsteen, 67, kicks off his four-month residency at the Walter Kerr Theatre in New York, for “Springsteen on Broadway,” Oct. 3.
