REDMOND, Ore. – Redmond High School Career Technical Education instructors Mark Winger, Ryan Beard, Dan Kernion and their guitar-building class presented a hand-built electric guitar to the Redmond Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4108 on Wednesday.
Constructed over the course of five weeks, the custom guitar was built of Alder, Rosewood, Maple and African Paudauk.
Students from the guitar class were responsible for lathe work, lasering and assembling every aspect of the electric guitar.
Sophomore Dillon Young played the National Anthem during the presentation on the guitar he helped build.
“It plays well,” Young said. “It has a great sound to it.”
The VFW will soon auction the guitar with proceeds going to support local veterans.
