Sitting in traffic is frustrating at the bets of times and waiting for a bridge to slowly lower is even more agonising.

But one man came prepared with an electric guitar and amplifier in the boot of his car and whipped them out for an impromptu jam session.

The footage was shot by the driver of the car behind him, and filmed in the far-northern New Zealand city of Whangarei.

Clad in a dark grey T-shirt and white chino pants along with khaki boots and a wide brimmed hat, the long-haired rocker entertain motorists as they waited.

The strumming legend attached a lead to his guitar and plugged it into the amplifier in the boot.

Without a care in the world he danced around the road with the long lead trailing behind him.

He looked like he was having a grand time playing along to Jamiroquai’s Virtual Insanity as dozens of cars waited behind him.

The bearded guitar hero eventually ended his two-minute solo to the great applause of many other motorists.

As he was finishing up, the bridge finally started to lower to let the long line of cars continue with their day.
