Club Rock, the after-school youth music class, has returned to Beachwood.
Since being located in LaPlace in Beachwood, she has had locations in Shaker Heights and Solon in the last 1½ years. Now, Club Rock is at 23645 Mercantile Road.
“I definitely think that (Beachwood) is really central to where all my students are,” owner Avril Burg said. “When I left, my hope was to come back to Beachwood. It’s the ideal place to be.”
The new building offers additional spaces for students and parents, like a private practice room where students can have one-on-one lessons with Burg or one of the other four instructors and a parent area sectioned off from the open practice area.
“I have a no-parents rule,” she said. “Parents love to watch their kids perform, but the kids clam up in front of their parents. It’s totally counter to what I’m doing.”
Children ages 4 to 17 can attend 10-week sessions to learn how to sing, harmonize and play the guitar, piano or drums.
“It’s for kids who love to perform,” she said. “They come to Club Rock with a song or two that they love and we use that song to work on vocal techniques.”
At the end of 10 weeks, the students, or Club Rockers as Burg refers to them, can rock out at a concert where the kids sing lead on one or two songs or playing an instrument during songs.
