Band battle: Rock music featured at college

CLAIRVAUX MacKillop College at Mt Gravatt will host a new music concept, the Battle of the Rock Bands, on September 8.

Organised by teachers John Daly and Timothy Hondroudakis, the event aims to “highlight the gifted musical talent that many of our students have in the rock genre’’.

“Students from Villanova College, Chisholm College, St Peter Claver College, St Laurence’s College, San Sisto College, St Augustine’s College, Padua College, and Mt Alvernia College have been invited to perform Clairvaux College,’’ Mr Daly said.

“The venue will be equipped with a large concert lighting system, video projectors and concert sound system, which will provide a real-life rock concert atmosphere for both the audience and performers.”

Mr Hondroudakis said the community had been generous in sponsoring the event.

He said that Cr Steven Huang, radio station Triple M and local businesses Music Express, Yamaha Music Australia, and BJ’s Sound and Lighting, had contributed to the event.

“We will have industry professionals coming to be judges and mentors for the student musicians,’’ Mr Hondroudakis said.
